EU Unesco4all Tour candidate for the WSIS prizes 2020
The new decade started with a honoring recognition: EU Unesco4all TOUR project was nominated for the WSIS Prizes 2020!
The World Summit on the Information Society -WSIS celebrates the contribution of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals of the Agenda 2030. The WSIS was endorsed by the UN General Assembly and the WSIS Prizes contest was developed in response to requests from its stakeholders to create an effective mechanism evaluating projects that leverage the power of ICTs to advance SDGs. The contest has attracted more than 300.000 stakeholders since its inception.
The public can vote for one project in each of the 18 categories: thus, the 5 projects per category with the highest number of votes will be identified: the Expert Group will select the winners among them. The 18 winning projects and 72 champion projects will be celebrated at the WSIS Forum 2020, to be held from 6-9 April 2020 in Geneva, Switzerland.
EU Unesco4all Tour is candidate in the Category 15 – AL c8. Cultural diversity and identity, linguistic diversity and local content. The project is an ideal candidate for the WSIS prizes, since it proposes a disruptive high-technology innovation at the service of equal access to cultural heritage for people with visual impairments, enabling and interactive and independent exploration of artworks. Its action contributes to three of the SDGs of the Agenda 2030: Quality education (Goal 4), Industry, innovation and infrastructure (Goal 9) and Reduced inequalities (Goal 10).
